Building Eco-systems (BES)

ABOUT US

Building Eco-Systems (BES) is an outreach and intervention programme that provides career guidance and coaching for youth who are unengaged — allowing them to prepare and qualify for sustainable jobs.
We work with like-minded industry partners and agencies, creating a strong network of support for youth.

OUR APPROACH

We seek to understand the youth in terms of their career values, interests, personality, and skillsets through validated profiling tools and discussions with BES job coaches. Youth are empowered to work together with the job coaches to select areas of growth that will increase their hirability.

After completing the youth’s career profiles, job coaches will facilitate a matching with employers that are providing suitable stints and attachments. Youth are able to observe, learn, and experience different roles and industries. Throughout the programme, job coaches will provide support for both the youth and the employers.

OUR CLIENTS

Youth aged 16-25 who are currently not in education, long-term employment, or training (NEET).

OUR GOAL

After completing the programme, youth would have a greater understanding of a few possible career pathways and be able to make informed decisions regarding their future career. They are able to decide if they would like to further their education, train in a specific area, gain employment, or explore other job roles. As the youth experience positive interactions at the workplace, they will develop a higher level of self-efficacy in believing that they are able to achieve tasks. When more employers come onboard BES and experience positive working experiences with at-risk youth, there will be a stronger support network and more opportunities available for at-risk youth.

Bridge to Employment Programme (BTE)

ABOUT US

Bridge to Employment Programme (BTE) is an initiative that encourages youth to pursue and develop their interest in science and technology. A quadrilateral partnership between FHI360, Johnson & Johnson, Jurongville Secondary School and Trybe, the programme involves career mentorship, STEM2D career exploration activities, and community building and engagement.

OUR APPROACH

We understand that youths learn through varying methods. We develop activities, curated to elicit learning while conducted in a fun and interactive way. We adopt an experience-based strategy, employing activities that impart the content clearly, while also encouraging reflection and self-discovery. Programmes are co-developed with teachers and J&J partners, executed by our staff and experienced volunteers. BTE is designed to give the students a better picture of their plans for post-secondary school and to allow them to experience the STEM2D sector in an open and fun manner.

OUR CLIENTS

We serve the students of Jurongvile Secondary School, following through with them from the age of 14 till 16. These students volunteered for the programme as they showed interest in STEM2D. Trybe also serves the volunteers from Johnson & Johnson, creating fun and meaningful activities for them to engage and mentor the students over the 3 years.

OUR GOAL

The programme aims to increase the number of successful graduation from secondary school and acceptance into higher learning. It also aims to increase the number of students accepted into STEM subjects in higher learning.
